Special offers on U-boat art prints.  Great discounts on U-boat art prints when you buy in our special offer packs of two or more prints.

Our print pack system brings customers of Cranston Fine Arts the best deals on new prints and classic bestsellers, as well as almost every other print available from our site.  We offer significant discounts on prints when you purchase one of our packs, with the total saving you are making given with the price of the pack on the item page.  At the time of writing we have almost 1000 print 'pairs' which offer great discounts, and pair up prints with related subjects, whether that is a regiment, an aircraft or a battle for example.  Our larger packs, including packs of 4, 8 and 16 prints, offer even larger discounts - up to TRADE PRICE for some packs - to collectors of prints, and those who have a particular interest in a subject.  An example would be our recent addition of our 16-print RAF tribute pack, which brings together several aircraft of the RAF - and signatures of the pilots of these aircraft - which include the Spitfire, Lancaster and Typhoon, for sale at what would be our trade price.  Our packs are highlighted with each print on the site - if the print is available in a pack it will be advertised on the print's page.

Flight Lieutenant Ian <i>Widge</i> Gleed is depicted in his personal Hurricane 1 P2798 (LK-A) of 87 Sqn shooting down a Messerschmitt Bf.110 on 15th August 1940. Just visible beneath the cockpit of the Hurricane is his mascot, Figaro, shown kicking a swastika. His aircraft was also easily identifiable by the red flash on its nose, a feature that was retained even when P2798 was painted all black for its night fighter role. Gleed scored many victories before being shot down and killed whilst flying a Spitfire Vc in the Western Desert in April 1943.

With the Battle of Britain at its height and the RAF stretched to breaking point, September of 1940 was a desperate time for the young pilots who fought gallantly to defend the UK against an imminent invasion. Among those brave few was the eighteen year old Geoffrey Wellum, shown here destroying a Heinkel He.111 on 11th September in Spitfire 1a K9998. The Heinkel fought back, peppering Wellum's Spitfire with holes, but the German bomber was mortally wounded and was seen to go down in flames.

The Allied breakthrough into the Normandy plain, against heavy German opposition. Filed marshall Montgomery claimed that Operation Goodwood had two major aims – the first being to break out from the beaches and the other to destroy the German armoured reserves and draw them away from the US forces that were preparing for Operation Cobra in the western sector. The plan for the breakout began with a massive aerial bombardment, using the strategic air forces large bombers to decimate the German defending forces then Lt-General Richard OConnors VIII Corps comprising three whole armoured divisions – 11th, 7th and Guards - and spearheaded by Major-General Pip Roberts 11th would then rush forward, overwhelm the defending Germans and causing the armoured forces to move forward and break out from the beach areas. To cover the flanks the Canadians would fight their way to Caen, while the British 3rd Infantry and 51st Highland Divisions would cover the left flank, and move further eastward.
