Dash to the Sea, November 1944 by David Pentland. As allied forces pressed inland towards Caen, the 21st panzer Division launched a counterattack along a narrow three mile corridor between the Canadians on Juno beach and the British on Sword. the charge led by fifty tanks of 22nd panzer regiment and supporting Panzer grenadiers was engaged on its eastern flank by heavy British anti tank fire and the bulk of the force was pinned down or destroyed. ultimately only six PZ IVs and a company of infantry mannered to reach the coast at lion sur mer. their stay however was short lived and within a few hours the arrival of the transports and gliders of the British 6th Airborne directly overhead forced the entire division to pull back for fear of being trapped. Operation Winter Tempest by David Pentland. Panzer IVF2 tanks of 6th Panzer Division, Panzer Armee Hoth, attempt to fight their way through to the beleaguered Sixth Army at Stalingrad, 12th December 1942. On the 21st the operation was abandoned when the expected breakout from Stalingrad failed to materialise, the relief column was only 25 miles from the city. The Desert Fox by David Pentland  El Alamein, October 28th 1943, Field Marshal Erwin Rommel discusses the critical battle situation with the Commanding Officer of the 21st Panzer Division, in front of his Kampfstaffel. General Montgomery launched a British attack in the south in order to divert the Axis forces away from the main attack in the north where the British would attempt to cut two corridors through the extensive minefields so that the armoured divisions could pass through and exploit the gaps. However, progress was slow and A change of tactics was ordered to fight what Montgomery called the 'crumbling' battle. The main emphasis of the attack was regularly switched to keep Rommel guessing and therefore chip away at the front line. On the 26th October the 9th Australian Division drew the Axis forces toward them along the coastal road. Using this attack , Montgomery launched a new attack further south, with the German armoury forced into what turned into a major tank battle. With only 30 working tanks left, Rommel withdrew his forces on the 4th November. Hampered by heavy downpours of rain and low on fuel the British were unable to stop Rommel from escaping.
